Synopsis:
Lights in the Dusk (Finnish: Laitakaupungin valot) is a Finnish 2006 film directed and written by Aki Kaurismäki. It is the last installment in Kaurismäki's Finland trilogy. It features Janne Hyytiäinen, Ilkka Koivula and Maria Järvenhelmi. The film is about a security man who meets a femme fatale who sets him up using his gullibility and loyalty. The film was presented at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. It was chosen as Finland's nominee for the 79th Academy Awards in the category of Best Foreign Language Film. However, Kaurismäki decided to boycott the awards and refused the nomination as a protest against US President George W. Bush's foreign policy. Kaurismäki also boycotted the 2002 gala, when his previous film The Man Without a Past was nominated for an Oscar.

Director Biography:
Aki Kaurismäki started his career as a co-director in the films of his elder brother Mika Kaurismäki. His debut as an independent director was Crime and Punishment (1983), Dostoevsky's famous crime story set in modern-day Helsinki, Finland. He gained worldwide notice with his movie Leningrad Cowboys Go America. His style has been influenced by the French directors Jean-Pierre Melville and Robert Bresson, as he relies on low-key acting and simple cinematic storytelling to get his message(s) across. Much of his work is centred on Helsinki, his native city, particularly Calamari Union which is largely set in the working class neighbourhood of Kallio, and the trilogy that comprises Shadows in Paradise, Ariel, and The Match Factory Girl.

Synopsis:
Seven segments related to one another only in that they all purport to be based on sections of the book by David Reuben. The segments range from "Do Aphrodisiacs Work?" in which a court jester gives an aphrodisiac to the Queen and is, in the end, beheaded to "What Happens During Ejaculation?" in which we watch 'control central' during a successful seduction.

Director Biography:
Woody Allen was born on 1935 in Brooklyn, New York. He directed his first film a year later, What's Up, Tiger Lily? (1966) in 1966. While best known for his romantic comedies of "Annie Hall" and "Manhattan," Woody has made many transitions in his films throughout the years, transitioning from his "early, funny ones" of "Bananas," "Love and Death" and "Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex But Were Afraid To Ask;" to his more storied and romantic comedies of "Annie Hall," "Manhattan" and "Hannah and Her Sisters;" to the Bergman-esque films of "Stardust Memories" and "Interiors;" and then on to the more recent, but varied works of "Crimes and Misdemeanors," "Husbands and Wives," "Mighty Aphrodite," "Celebrity" and "Deconstructing Harry;" and finally to his film of the last decade, which vary from the light comedy of "Scoop," to the self-destructive darkness of "Match Point" and, most recently, to the cinematically beautiful tale of "Vicky Cristina Barcelona."

Synopsis:

The comedy groups last full length movie returns to the feel of the hugely popular BBC TV show. It features small comedy sketches dealing with all of the stages and trials of life. Expect the un-expected. Plenty of religious, vulgar, and sexual humor may offend some groups. There are even musical numbers, but with that same unmistakable brand of Python humor. The Monty Python group examines the meaning and purpose of life in a series of sketches from conception to death and beyond. In typical Monty Python fashion they satirizes and humourizes almost everyone.

Directors Biography:

Terry Jones was born in Colwyn Bay, North Wales. His father was a bank clerk, mother - mistress of the house. He has an older brother Nigel Jones (1940-). He studied at St. Edmund Hall College, Oxford University. In 1965, with his friend Michael Palin, he made 'The Love Show' for television, which was his first success. Also, he wrote for many other TV shows, such as: 'The Kathy Kirby Show', 'Late Night Line-Up' (with Palin), "Complete and Utter History of Britain" (1969) (with Palin). But Jones' greatest success was zany "Monty Python's Flying Circus" (1969) (1969-74) (with Palin, Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Giliiam and Eric Idle).


Terry Gilliam was first known for the bizarre animation sequences in "Monty Python's Flying Circus" (1969) using cutout pictures and photographs. They were in Brazil (1985), Twelve Monkeys (1995), The Fisher King (1991), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) and Time Bandits (1981).

故事简介:
源自真实故事,一个农民工,因承诺而千里背尸,欲将一个工地结识的朋友死后的尸体送回他的乡下。聪明的青年导演张杨于是抓住这个机会,找到那个背尸的农民工详谈,写出《落叶归根》的电影剧本,找来赵本山主演那个背尸的农民工。电影以公路作为场景,通过赵本山主演的农民工老赵因为一个承诺而走上一段不可思议又充满辛酸苦楚的旅程。

Synopsis:
In this soulful and humane comedy, Zhao, a middle–aged construction worker, struggles to fulfill a dying co–worker's last wish to be buried in China's Three Gorges region. Setting out with his colleague's body in tow, Zhao travels hundreds of miles across extraordinary countryside, encountering a number of colorful adventures and characters — and even discovering love in some unlikely quarters. Director Biography:
Zhang Yang was born in Beijing, China in 1967. In 1992, he graduated from the Central Theatre Academy. He then directed a theatrical production of Kiss of the Spider Woman and went on to direct over twenty underground music videos. His first feature film, Spicy Love Soup, swept the domestic Chinese awards and his second feature, Shower, won the FIPRESCI prize at the Toronto International Film Festival. Getting Home is his fifth feature film.

《暗夜恐惧》召集8位艺术家、以黑白简约画风讲述了一个个关于恐惧的故事。故事发生在维多利亚时代,一个笑容邪恶的男人牵着4头恶犬招摇过市,他最大的乐趣就是看着它们将无辜人们撕成碎片;男孩来到沼泽地度过他的暑假,渐渐的他发现他周围的人们一个个消失了;一个日本小姑娘备受噩梦的折磨(颇有伊藤润二的风格);几只诡异而充满魔力的虫子闯入了一个害羞的男孩的生活,从而将他引向噩梦般的旅程(卡夫卡式的臆想混合着大卫·柯南伯格式的视觉风格,让人眩晕)……女人孤独的旁白将这8个故事串起。8位艺术家或从死亡的诗作、或从童年记忆与噩梦幻觉中获得灵感,创从而造了这部视觉风格奇诡的“怪谈录”。电影更是融合了多种画风,从炭笔绘画到简略的flash,有的线条庞杂柔美,有的带着强烈几何造型感、风格硬朗。


Synopsis:
Spiders' legs brushing against naked skin…Unexplainable noises heard at night in a dark bedroom…A big empty house where you feel a presence…A hypodermic needle getting closer and closer…A dead thing trapped in a bottle of formaldehyde…
Note on the film: Children are afraid of the dark but many adults also are! Darkness prevents from seeing, and we can then persuade ourselves that we are surrounded by beasts, insects or any other malevolent creature. In colloquial language, we talk about "dark ideas", "living in dark misery" or "having dark premonitions"…This feeling of uneasiness can be traced back to the mists of time. Blutch, Charles Burns, Marie Caillou, Pierre di Sciullo, Jerry Kramsky, Lorenzo Mattotti, Richard McGuire, Michel Pirus, Romain Slocombe, went back to the origins of their terrors and agreed to animate their drawings and inspire them, each one in his unique style, with the rhythm of their nightmares.

Charles burns'biography:Borned 50 years ago in Washington D.C and he was launched at the beginning of the 1980’s by Art Spiegelman and Françoise Mouly in the pages of Raw magazine. Since he has completed several works (Defective stories, El Borbak) published around the world. He has just completed Black hole, his longest work whose publication is on its way in France. He is the illustrator of the first anthology of grunge music; he has also illustrated the CD "Brick by brick" by Iggy Pop, of whom he is a great fan.

(一)培养师生人文素养;

(三)讨论摄影、艺术、文学等电影中的技巧、创作及学术上的论题,达至师生一同成长的优质环境。
